Sylvia L. Blalock, a San Francisco Native, is a poet, published author and the founder of Queendom Network, L.L.C. She has performed on open mics both live and online . She hosted online poetry shows including her own Blogtalkradio network, Uprising Radio for several years. A woman of many skills, Sylvia is a trained graphic designer and skilled video producer, creating colorful engaging online content, particularly in support of poetry, spoken word, authors and storytellers. Sylvia launched Queendom Network in 2020 with the vision establishing a multi-media outlet that specialized in and focused on poetry. This vision opened new opportunities to learn production, project management and public relations, that she was able to add to her extensive career. Sylvia developed a business model around what she calls the Ubuntu Model based on the Ubuntu philosophy "I am because We are".
Sylvia was a workshop presenter at UC Berkeley Empowering Womxn Of Color Conference in 2021 (Voices That Carry: Being Loud on Purpose workshop, where she introduced a poetry form that she created- the Griot Seed) and 2022 (What Can't Be Unseen workshop) ; she was a consultant for the planning committee and provided video content creation as well Audio Visual tech support for the in-person programming. Sylvia was the featured performer at La Peña Cultural Center's Inaugural Empowering People of Color Open Mic, in December 2022. In March of 2022, Sylvia was invited by friend and collaborator John Sims to Pi Day at the Exploratorium, a celebration of " the irrational, transcendent, and never-ending ratio that helps describe circles of all sizes", by writing poems about it, as well as writing an article about the event for the San Francisco Bay View, the black liberation newspaper founded in one of the neighborhoods that she grew up in when she and her family lived there. She returned in 2023 to pay tribute to John Sims who passed away in December 2022.
